MCT oil, combined with cannabidiol, seems to be the new trend. So what is its difference with other vegetable oils and why is it so popular? What are its benefits? Why combine it with cannabinoids? How to choose these MCT oils? Check our guide to understand everything about CBD MCT oil.
What is an MCT oil?
The designation “MCT” comes from the English acronym “Medium-Chain Triglycerides” which means Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT) in French.
The name sounds complicated, but it actually hides a fairly simple product composed of a mixture of two medium-chain fatty acids:
Caprylic acid (C8)
Capric acid (C10)
These fatty acids are usually extracted from the coconut, but they can also come from the palm.
What are the advantages and benefits of MCT oil?
The main characteristic of MCT oil is that it is very easy to digest compared to other fats. Its digestion does not require the action of the pancreas or the gall bladder, since the absorption takes place very high in the intestine.
MCT oil also has many other benefits:
- Source of energy;
- Reduces fat;
- Improves stamina;
- Improves concentration;
- Reduces the feeling of hunger;
- Helps to balance blood sugar levels;
- Allows better assimilation of CBD ;
- Maintains the proper functioning of the immune system;
- Promotes the effect of surrounding (oils with broad or complete spectrum).
MCT oil, a source of ketogenic energy
Another interesting property of MCT oil is that it is not stored by the body, which prefers to use it as an energy source.
Unlike long-chain fatty acids, the C8 and C10 fatty acids in MCT oil do not need to pass through the lymphatic channel. Some of them are converted into ketones, or ketone bodies, which serve as fuel for the most energy-consuming organs. Another part is burned directly by the body’s muscles.
Why use MCT oil with CBD?
As you know, cannabinoids are fat-soluble molecules. They, therefore, need a fatty body to be assimilated by our body. So why choose MCT oil rather than another vegetable oil?
The main reason is quite simple, CBD oil tends to crystallize above 20% and makes the format in sublingual oil impossible. This is not the case with MCT oils which allow you to enjoy a more concentrated and still quality product. This is why we use MCT oil instead of olive oil in our CBD oils dosed at over 20%.
Moreover, the benefits of MCT oils mentioned above make the assimilation of CBD by the body easier and faster. The effects of cannabidiol are then more marked and take advantage of the effect of surrounding, for the oil of CBD with broad spectrum or complete spectrum.
